A few engine rebuild questions...

im pretty sure maxx mazda cracked three or four arias pistons. im also pretty damn positive hes one of the most knowledgeable people on these boards.

Three sets, the thin part around the valve land snapped off. Went with the best pistons you can get for the FS now - CP - and although I haven't run the engine yet, I held it side by side with an Arias and the CP is a VASTLY SUPERIOR design, as well as manufacturing quality. There are no sharp edges on the CP's like there are on the Arias (sharp edges = hot areas = BAD) the pistons have a flat dome as opposed to the Arias raised dome, and the skirts are much thicker without being heavier, and the oil jet relief cut is much larger so you won't need to worry about snapping the jets off like you did with the earlier Arias pistons.

Not trying to bash Arias, hell I ran 3 sets of them before I wised up, but IN MY OPINION the CP's are the best you can buy for the Protege. Ask BrianMP5T as well, he's converted too.
