A/C noise?

Hey guys,

So I started up the car as usual. Turn the A/C on. Since it's quite hot the past few days, the auto A/C kept it at full blow. However, I hear this growling noise from the glove box. It sounds like an "engine accelerating-----rooooooommm" noise. Any clues? I am very sure this noise was not there before. Just wondering if anyone has experienced it. Thanks.

Your blower (squirrel cage) sits behind the glove box. I bet it is filled with debris or worse yet a dead mouse. Are your vents blowing plenty of air or does it feel a little weak compared to before the noise started? Either way, I would check ou the blower housing/blower assembly.

Good point. I actually just changed the cabin air filter last week. It had a crap load of dust and dirt on the filter. I have to admit those filter are really flimsy. It really looks like a piece of paper. It would be great if we can retro fit a 3M filter in there haha. Like you said, I did find some other debris such as leaves around the "squirrel cage". Do you think the noise is there due to clogging from other objects? Hopefully I won't find a dead mouse in there.

Btw, is it easy to detach the blower behind the glove box? It doesn't offer that much room to work with after the little door is detached from the glove box. I was wondering if I can take out the blower and wash or vaccum it?

Thanks for the pointers buddy.

I guarantee you that you have leaves in the cage that are hendering the performance of your blower and making the noise. I have never removed mine from my CX9, but I have removed others and they all seem to come out from the bottom behind the glove box. Remove the cover that sits right under the glove box and take a look down there, I bet you can the see the 3-4 bolts that hold the blower up to the housing.
