99 Miata Service Manual?

So my alternator has completely died on me, leaving me stranded on the road. I got it towed home, but now I'm not sure I want to replace the alternator myself. It *looks* simple, but then I found one of the main bolts holding it on is threaded in from behind (WHY?), where the "intake plenum support bracket" sits, so I'll have to take that bracket off. Then I traced the belt path and it looks like I'm going to have to loosen at least one other belt to get my current belt removed.

So...long story short, does anyone have the service manual, specifically for repairing the alternator? It would be much appreciated. If I do choose to do it myself, it would be nice to know the torques and forces to put everything back in.

Thanks!

I don't have a service manual for the '99 unfortunately. However, the article found HERE should answer most, if not all, of your questions. Skip the documentary banter in the first half of the document and you'll find the procedure. Belt deflection and bolt torque specs can be found at the end (the numbers are for a '92, but will be the same for your '99).

HTH!

no chilton manual for '99+ as of yet :(

I've been working on mine thru trial and error for years now... and using the miatanet guides for the 89-97's as a starting point, and hoping not too much has changed...
