95 Protege LX

I have a 1995 Mazda Protege that overheats after I go on an out of town trip as soon as I get into the town I live in....I have had the thermostat changed but it still has the same problem...there are no leaks, head gasket is fine, all the hoses look to be in good shape and it drives alright...just wondering if anyone has had this problem and what they did to fix it?

check fluid level, fans, sometimes a bubble gets stuck in the cooling system so just try bleeding it...does it literally get hot or just the gauge fluctuate?

yes my fans work and by overheating I mean the temp gauge pegs out and the car is hot....fluid in reservoir boiling....put in a 195 degree thermostat but am thinking that is the wrong one....the temp isn't fluctuating...just goes up and doesn't come down until the car cools off...car does not do this in town...just after driving 30 or so miles...usually about the time I start slowing down to come into my hometown....don't know where I am supposed to be posting this stuff since I am new...any help would be appreciated.
