80mm Exhaust for the MSP

yeah can we get a tally of everyone working on 3" prototypes
i know pope540 has his... and ive seen at least one more floating around

Carl Aren't you working on a one off one??? or planning to have someone make you a one off

Mine should be a winner (possibly among others) and I may look into making it 80 mm instead of 3 in to match this better. It wouldn't take much if any effort and it would take full advantage of the oversized pipes. I just need to figure out where I can get 80 mm pipe for the bend.

how much whp do you think we msp owners will net with this 80mm exhaust alone and then with the matching dp? dub please put your wise full input too

It won't be sure until some dynos are takin but from what I remember, the GHL turbo back had gains or 22 or 24whp so I'd guess somewhere close to that with a full turbo back.

Without a DP, not too sure, the stock DP is the worse bottle neck in the entire exhaust system. On that note, I need a DP. lol.

Thats fine and all but those of us that just want the DP not so much. I don't the CS would sell just the 3" DP at a "decent" price.

The only reason I want just the DP is, well, I'm not a fan of the fart can and if I can just buy the DP I can make the rest of the exhaust ( all parts includeing the DP) at half that price.

Talked about the 80mm DP at yesterday's R&D meeting and took a look over the car and our current design and I've got to say at this point, the requirements to make a quality product are going to be substantially expensive. There are a number of substantial design constraints that would limit our abilities to be successful at something like this without a horrendous installation process and/or expensive stainless casting or billet stainless machined flange would be really difficult. It would almost certainly also require a stainless coolant line that would replace the majority of the lower radiator hose as the 80mm pipe would be extremely close to that hose and it would melt without a doubt. I could see us expanding to an 80mm diameter at the J in our current design or perhaps just a bit upstream of that. But right now, this is not something we'll be investing a large amount of time in designing.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I'd prefer to keep you in on our reasoning rather than leave you all in the dark.

That being said, our current design most certainly flows a hell of a lot better than the stock cast S pipe.

would be interested if it can be ready before the beginning of the summer. I was looking for the thermal r&d but i prefer the look of the usual corksport mufler than the thermal one. Either way, cat back or j pipe bak will do the job for me.
Hope this project wont stay as a prototype too much time(2thumbs)

lol, the link has already been posted, you can buy the 80mm downpipe back exhaust from them right now if you have the $500
