6CD Changer question

Hi,

I'm just a bit confused after reading the various threads.

Does the 6 CD changer that comes with the moon roof package for a 2005 in the US play MP3 CDs?

I tried creating one with my ROXIO Creator software and the player accepted it and seemed to play it (the time counter incremented) but there was no sound.

TIA

Gary

The 06 moonroof/bose audio package didn't come with it so I doubt it. Thats the only sad thing about my car thus far.

no it does not play mp3 cd's...... you can either get the mp3 oem add on $$, or an aftermarket deck that plays mp3's prob less money then the oem option but you lose the clean oem look, or use your personal mp3 player with either an fm modulator (easy to do but poor SQ) or use your mp3 player with a direct wire option a bit more money and DIY stuff but probably the best option as its still far away from the $$ of the oem factory deck if you need help with whatever way you choose just ask... as a lot of people have done a lot of different things to get mp3s in their car...

I'm not so sure I want to put a LOT of money into this just now, maybe later.

Tell me more about the direct wire option and what player you would recommend.??

Sort of sad to get a new car with all of the bells and whistles and not have something that seems to be so ubiquitous now days. But I guess maybe it wasn't when they designed the car. :-(

It's really too bad that they didn't at *least* have an aux input on ALL (oem & otherwise) headunits using a mini-stereo jack input.
That way people could use it for any external music device that uses a similar output plug.

Although I would have *asked* the dealer about what the Bose unit did & didn't do before ordering it.......

Never assume, young grasshopper! =)

sorry took so long to respond to PM but here you go...

if you want to go the hard wired route for simplicity sake i would just suggest the auxmod they say limited quantities but its because its a couple electrical engineering students making it in their spare time, you just get added to the list and iirc the wait time lately has been less then a month from what people were saying, or you can wait a bit longer and add yourself to the wait list for the auxmod advanced or whatever they are callin the next step.

everyone that has one has nothing to say but good things, the only problem people have is if they have a cradle charger for their mp3 player there can be electrical noise (a humm in tune with engine rpm) a ground loop isolator from radio shack will take care of it and its not much $$.... it looks like a circuit board but its just b/c they kept cost down by not putting it in a case 60$ really isn't bad....

That looks like a nice little unit. When they start taking orders again the 1st of February I'll get one.

Thanks.

i just got an e-mail back from them, there's no list right now they think they'll have enough to satisfy demand once they are in stock again.

cool... good luck and if you need any help doin the install just do a search for removing stock hu.... its been stated about 100 times, and thats all you have to do.
