My 01 2.0L spun a bearing and is dead. I ordered an engine from a supplier who is in Canada (tigerjapanese.com or jdmtigerjapanese.com) and list the engine as such: FS engine, Mazda 626, 98+ coil pack.
How much of an issue am I going to run into putting this in a Protege. I figured worse case everything on my block and head will have to be swapped over. I don't think this is actually a 'JDM' engine rather it is likely a Canadian motor and pulled from a 626. Everything I can find says it should be the same as the Protege FS as far as compression ratio etc. If its the same block and head then I'm good to go minus wiring the coil packs which people do anyways to get rid of the crappy 'coil on plug' setup.
Anyone used one of these before?
