Hmm... are they going after people who actively share the files or the people downloading them. I pay for a news group service that has at any given time at least 100000 mp3's and movies available for download. There is a 10Gb download limit that I reach monthly. Curious what the legalities are...

as far as "real" fans being the ones who are f-ed in this situation, the only people who've been f-ed so far are the ones that had copies of all of the songs that people wanted (i.e. mainstream music ala Linkin Park, Metallica, the boy band s****, the Britney Spears, etc...) so that there were millions of downloads from their accounts. maybe they were the "real" fans and just had pop songs to try and screw over the recording industry, or maybe they were able to see that musical taste, is just that TASTE. its a preference, not an absolute truth!
just go listen to some NOFX, the Dead Milkmen, etc and leave other people alone...
P.S. no offense to those that are into punk, NOFX, the Dead Milkmen... I listen to a fair amount of punk and its good s***. its just a stereotype of mine that most people that believe that there is no music beyond their preference tend to be either 1. holy rollers, 2. classical music lovers or 3. punks who used to be goth but now have to go to work so its just punk now. Listen to whatever blows your skirt up
