529T Window Module Install

Has anyone tried installing a DEI 529T Window Module in their car yet? It lets you control your windows through an aux port on your alarm, and I wanted to do the same with my sunroof. When I did the front 2 windows they worked fine, so I bought another module to do my sunroof but that sucker just won't go. I took in to Best Buy to one of my buddies that works in the install bay, and he couldn't figure it out either. He said that the tilt function screws it up somehow, he was talking too fancy for me to understand (boom07) . Has anyone ever tried this before though, or would anyone have any pointers on how to make it work properly?

force limiting is not necc, just use a 10sec latched output on your alarm directly and run constant power up there. modules are excessive and likely jsut adding confusion.

the problem isthat when you try to bypass the stock controls instead of just tapping into them, ther eis NO way to seperate tilt form open/close which means your sunroof will not stop in just closed, it will close, then the motor keeps running and tilts it up. same goes for closing it from the tilt, it closes, then keeps running slides open fully.

basically jsut tap into the normal control wires. I really forget the colors, but it's a ground-activated switch, very easy to find which is which.

Yea that's exactly what happens, it gets all screwy because the tilt and the close I believe are on the same circuit or something like that. Honestly, I don't know much of anything about wiring but that does ring a bell. So I take it you've done this before then, could you maybe give me a little more detailed explanation on how to do it? Thanks a lot!

Alright, managed to find one pic. it's been long enough that I couldn't pull apart what wire does what for you, I think int he how-to thread it's pretty well listed out.

edit, okay found more. With my first setup, no auto-open using normal 30A (WAY OVERKILL) automotive relays. Also take note that you'll need to do the constant sunroof power mod. Note that I really don't recommend using the "tee taps" that I used in the first rendition, but with the limited space and time I was initially working with it was a "good enough" crutch that was replaced lateron.

You will, indeed need to use one channel for open, and another for close. I would DEFINATELY have the close one going incase you manage to push the wrong button or whatever else. Also it's prettynice to be able to leave the car with everything open, and just hit a button as you walk away and arm your alarm.

Well, it's not tied into arm, but that could be arranged, it's best to wire extraneous functions into extra channels in an alarm. for up/down windows it takes two channels, one up one down.

I had this setup in one of my cars in the past, two windows and the sunroof. I think I had that same module. The vent would crack the windows and sunroof, the roll down would roll them down all the way, and the roll up will roll them up all the way. There was no tilt function, just open and close, is that how it works for you now?

Yea that's exactly how the windows work. You press the button once and it keeps cracking the window by like two inches, and when you hold it then it rolls them down all the way but when you press the arm button it rolls them up completely. It also gives the two windows one-touch roll UP AND DOWN functions. As for the sunroof, it can't work with our cars. It should work exactly like the windows do but the tilt functions screw it all up.

a timed trigger output from any standard alarm hooked into a simple 12v relay will handle sunroof control properly.
