5 and winter driving

We live in Maine and are considering a 5. Anyone have experiences to share of the 5's winter capability. I do a lot of interstate and 2 lane highway driving year round. I would run a set of winter rims and tires. Sounds like 16's would be an option. Thanks in advance

Winter driving

The '5' handles like any small fwd drive car in the snow.....no better no worse.
Winter tires are a must though.
Traction control would have been a great option though.

I have always been pleased with my P5 (for the last 4 years) in the winter. Especially since I have a 5 speed. Get a good set of winter tires and you'll love it. I put Nokian WRs (205/50/16) on the stock rims for year round driving. I lost a slight amount of lateral grip over the stock Dunlops in hard summer driving, but improved the ride, WAY improved wet weather traction, and I have full on winter traction with a very good tread wearout warranty - I expect these to last longer than the Dunlops that came with the car, and I got 70,000km out of the Dunlops. One of the best purchases I have made. If you go with the WRs, keep them inflated to at least 34psi as they have a really deep tread and are squirrely feeling for the fist couple hundred miles (not unsafe, just weird) I was in Calgary for the first 3 years, now in Atlanta for the last 1.5, and I stand by my decision
