4th Annual LRP Mazda Corral

Woot! Is someone bringing a big grill for the cookout? I don't remember who brought it last year.

We brought one from the house we were renting, so we'll have one for sure.

has anyone picked a place to camp? I;m gonna be there friday morning to flag and will be setting up camp. I won't have the mazda, but it would be great to have a mazda compound. i was planning on setting up camp near the uphill(most likely will be flagging that station. If anyone has any other spots they would rather be let me know, I'll be there around 8:30-9:00 so I will be able to get a prime location. Forgot to mention I have a grill, canopy, might have a generator for that event also

can someone give me a quick description of what LRP weekend is. After trolling through this thread and the supplies thread I've understood this much:

Its a weekend at Lime Rock for the Grand Am Race on Memorial day weekend.
People camp there and hang out and generally get drunk (and drop footballs).

Do we all park together? Do we hang out near our cars or do the tents need to be set up away from the cars? Do you tease the new guy?

haha...drop footballs...haha(silly)
ya, for the most part you've got it...we get to check out the mazda teams at their paddocks, they'll most likely come by and spend some time with us at our cookout sun (off day no racing) there will be lots of mazda swag giveaways etc we get to run our cars around the track a few times following the pace car (lots of fun!!)...and the mazda corral for all us mazda owners to park our cars together! yes, the initiation for new guys/gals!(silly) jk...it's an awesome tine!!

The only initiation is that we may take a photo of you at your worst possible drunken moment...and then post it once a week on the forum.

A good time is had by all and since we're still talking about the events of last year, this is one event you don't want to miss.

Not everyone camps out. There are a few hotels within 30-45 minutes drive of the park (nothing is closer...and you'll see why the first time you come...its in the boonies). We generally congregate around our corral area where we park our cars and try to group together on the infield grass near the "esses" to watch the race action.

I do believe I'll have to make it down, I'm familiar with the area so I know nothing's really around. I have family that has a Lake house in the South East Berkshires so I used to bomb around that area in my old car. If i can find my old camping gear I'll probably camp out though. Anyone know how late you can buy the $70 weekend ticket (thats what I need right?)

I haven't bought mine yet... (chair) I wouldn't wait more than a week or two. I can't remember when they stop selling them.

This question for the vets. at LRP.
How do we stake the area for camping so we are like mazda NEPOC or NEMOC camping corral.

Will be great to see you John. Drop by the corral or let us know which corner you are working.

I think I'm one of the closest so I could get there right when the park opens on Friday, is that at 8? How would we go about staking out an area?

Camping opens up Thursday night at 6 PM. I could actually go after work and stake out an area but I wouldn't want to spend the night.... Any suggestions?

Another note.. the only thing I can get to work on the Lime Rock site is the tickets link... I can't get contact information, schedule information, nothing. The page is either loading weird (off the screen??) or just not loading at all for me... Can anyone get me a number to call??

Thanks!! Oh.. and according to the site, the advance sales price ends on 5/21.

It's better to purchase early so the tickets are mailed to you. If you wait too long you'll have to stop by the booth on your way into the track and possibly wait in line.

Who gets drunk off beer? As the rest of the team has stated, we have a good time, we have personal access to the cars, drivers and crew. Normally we give paddock tours, where you are upclose and personal inside the paddock.

Photo ops with all of the drivers, autograph sessions and more. And for the record, we only have one member that drops footballs!
