so, forgive my ignorance... could someone give me a run down of what happens for this? Do we actually get to drive on the track? Everyone in these threads have already gone to other years, it seems, so I have no idea what this event actually is...

We only drive on the track for a couple parade laps of which we follow a pace car. The rest of the time we watch the cars practice and race, meet the teams, hang out at our Mazda corral, drink beer, eat food, and have fun! I think that about sums it up. Also read the first post.

would I need a helmet for the parade lap? is the parade lap only on Monday?

No, you don't need a helmet. You'll be going slow behind a pace car.

there are actual races going on. Saturday you have the Continental Series with GS Class, Mustangs, Camaros, BMW's, STI and Porsche's. The ST Class has BMW's, Honda Civics, Minis, Mazda MX-5's and Speed 3's, Boxters, Cobalts and VW's too!

I'll be there, at least Sat and Mon. Might stop by sometime on Sunday, but since Ryan'll be at his parents I might go kayaking with them first, then swing by the track on the way home.

He may come with me one of the days too.
