40mm offset - 18 x 7.5

Hi all, I'm installing 225/40/18 tires on my Mazda5, and have been looking for rims online.
Most of the rims that come up for the car are between 42 - 45 mm offset.

A local tire shop, has a set of rims that I like for very good price, but they are 40mm - 7.5 width.

2mm offset difference from 42mm doesn't seem too much, but is it enough that they won't fit the car?
I don't want to do any modifications to the fenders (roll in, cut, etc)

My car is not lowered, and not planning to lower it anytime.

Anybody with a similar setup?

thanks in advance.

stock rims are 17x6.5 +52 with 205/50-17 tires. enter the stock specs, then enter the upgrade specs. scroll down, and they will explain where the differences between the two sizes "Might" interfere with the vehicle. then, you can take those comments to the car and measure away.

that being said, i think you'll be fine at stock ride height.

Ask that 'local place' to let you put one on and drive around for 15 min, look for potholes, etc.... Just kidding, YES they will work just fine, 2mm is nothing in this case, especially if youre keeping the height stock. M5 has BIG wheel wells IMO.

Peace!(rei)

Update:
I got the 40mm offset wheels, and they rubbed badly on the rear fenders.
The tire shop was cool enough to take them back, and ordered a new set.

Got installed a set of Enkeis Falcon Gunmetal, 18 x 7.5, 45 mm wrapped on 225/40/18 tires.

Still a slight rub in the rear fenders when I hit a dip on the road at higher speeds.
I'll have to get firmer springs, or roll in the fenders.
I think I would prefer to stiffen the suspension, which too soft anyway as is.

Recommendations?

My mirrors are body coloured as well (brilliant black). Perhaps just one more feature specific to Canadian 5's.

Bought a 2010 Touring Liquid Silver last week here in San Diego,CA and the mirrors are colored matched.

Im surprised you have a rubbing issue, I have 18x8.0 et 45 on same 225/40/18 tires and mine is lowered 1.8 in. and no rubbing issue

Thanks so much for posting that link! It made the difference for me understanding the changes in rims/tires!!
