The pennies have been saved the MS3 is mine!
So I got back from the stealership and they hit me with a $400 title transfer and plate fee for an ms3. Does this sound right? Why can't I just go to the DMV and do this myself? I have never payed that much for plates and title transfer before.

That's a serious bending over. While I appreciate the dealership handling all the paperwork and procurement of my plates and stickers, I'd never pay them that much to handle it.

You should be able to take the title after they sign it and transfer it at your local tag office for $20 or so.
And plates never cost that much.... they just got a huge profit.

You're not supposed to get charged over 50 bux for that... well when the doc handeling fees are concerned...lol

You haven't purchased your car yet, did you??? Please say no...

Check this site out... CarBuyingTips Might as well read up on this before you actually go out and buy if you haven't yet.

To be completely clear...are you saying this is what the dealership charged you to file your paperwork and get your plates mailed to them, or is this your entire TTL fee? I just can't believe a dealership would charge $400 to file your license paperwork.

Slow down guys. I did not buy a car yet. I went into the dealer to talk about ordering a white MS3 and this is what they told me.

They would do $500 over invoice
they would add 200 for the auto dim mirror with home link
add 200 for white
add 1500 for gt(no sports in white there)
add 400 for the title and plates

so the way I see it I need to get them down about 2800 before making a deal.

TTL? Tax is like 1600 on top of this fee. this 400 is for plates and title transfer and I don't like it.

ask them if that includes tax. If you are in canucksville, I don't know how you poutiners pay that kinda stuff. In the states, (or most states) we pay tax during the purchase.

ewww. I don't like it either. I'd ask for it all hashed out in writing so you can share it with others to see if that's the norm.

yeah, I figured you didn't buy yet, I remembered you wanting a white Speed3... lol

It's probably changed, but when I was in Wyoming, you paid the sales tax when you went to register the car and get your plates. OUCH. They give you 30 days to get it done. I was pleasantly surprised when I moved to Texas and found that they finance the tax. Woopee!!!

Up here in Canuckistan tax is added to the price of the purchase.

We also don't have GT/Sport variations on the Speed3. We just have a Speed3. No leather option, no navigation system, no TPMS, everything else is standard.
