-40 Degrees (F and C), and still ticking!

It is -40C (same in F) with the windshield factor in Montreal this morning, and the P5 handles it beautifully. Shock absorbers and bushings are transformed into frozen hockey pucks.

A lot less rattles (caused by cold) than expected, heating system also works fine.

I srely don't regret my 2000 Civic...

I am also in the south shore...and it's f*$@(#@ing freezing...I have a courtesy car from the dealership..that thing sounded like it was dying this morning...oh well..not my car.. Keep Warm fellow Canadians!!!

It took a few secs to start my 2003 p5 this morning...
I took the car for an oil change....and I asked the dealer if it was normal..

Because I noticed the car to have some "difficulties" starting in the morning... well, I will see in the future....

Hey, -40 degrees here in Edmonton and man, my car didn't want to start! It took about 3 times to turn over and it sounded horrible!

my protege5 wont start, the problem is the gas is frozen in the gas line...cheap

its been 2 days, the 1st i sent it to the dealer via mazda's road side service (pretty quick i might ad)

they told me the problem shouldnt return, he added a bottle of anti gas freeze...but today it wouldnt start :wtf:

i think it pretty much sucks, what if i was living in nothern Ontario or anywere that has -40 weather regulaly...

i live in a appartment so i cant get a block heater and plug it in...

I'm not a 100% sure if it makes a difference, I'm using Mobil 1 5W30 synthetic oil. Engine starts are smoother since, and even the sound (or music) is different.

I travel quite a lot so water in the gasoline passes in the line and eventualy very little is left in the tank. Trick I'm using is to run on fumes (empty the tank to the "very nearly outa gas" level) as many times as I can during the summer. I keep the tank more than half full all the time in winter. Also, I use Shell gasoline. Petro Canada and Ultramar don't perform as well.

Windshield factor is calculated using wind speed. When it's -25, and wind is 15km/h, they use a formula and end with a number that tells you how cold it FEELS. So, it's -25 but it feels like -40.

That's all I know about it.

Whatever the result, you ain't gonna pee outside today or IT will fall off...

You mean the windCHILL factor? Or do they actually call it "windshield" factor in Canada?

Your humour is fine Pal. I always heard "windshield" factor, could be "windCHILL" factor...as you get older, your ears tend to pick up weird sounds...
