perhaps i spoke too soon about the subie making power. the exhaust on the stg2 certainly helped i'm sure.

i just don't know how the new wrx can have more boost and thus more power in such a short timespan. subaru might suffer in the long run if a bunch of engine rebuilds are in order.

the 'glass' tranny may be a thing of the past, but i'm still skeptical. if i wanted to make big power on a subaru, i'd prolly either go for an sti with its stronger drivetrain or plan on upgrading the wrx drivetrain.

it's all due to 3 things - bigger turbo than the 08 / larger freer flowing exhaust than the 08 / and the tune from the factory is dif. ( which maybe the issue with the engines like the 07 sti had).

glass trans on the wrx was only pre 05

i certianly hope you are right...there seems to be very very few threads that i have read where the newer models had issues with the trans. and if they are they were either launching the car wrong or they had done a big turbo swap and are making crazy hp.

Already traded my Speed3 for an 09 WRX (Premium) a little more than a month and a half ago :)

ABSOLUTELY HAPPY with my move ! This thing launches like a freight train I love it.

any mod plans for it? and congrats on the buy!! i love the 09 great looking car and i love the red int. accents. I say in a 09 sedan the other day at the dealer. really like how supportive the seats are now too! much better than my 07.

For now I'll take it slow. I have 1100miles on the clock. But when I bought the car I emailed Cobb to see if they were coming for something for the 09's and he told me it was in progress. I then read this thead today and saw your links and saw the numbers and they are pretty impressive for whats been done. So yes whatever is needed to run Stage1 and stage2 I want eventually.

Yes the interior is nice. Almost as nice as the Speed3. Just needs WRX on the cluster and its a done deal. But is has moonroof and heated seats and that I'm glad to get back :)

I bought the hatch simply because I'm so used to have one and that its so useful. But look-wise the sedan hands down. But for me it was a no-brainer.

I put the sports grill in the front, have smoked tails (not too dark) and I put the rally armor mudflaps. Awesome car.(2thumbs)

I don't even get to follow up with it anymore. I work in a closed area with no innanets.

Passing time SUCKS.

Getting PAID rules.

coming froma 2006 stg2 pro tuned by Mike at GST, I never had a single problem. If i had a chance to go back i would buy it again over speed3. But the car was wrecked do to a crazy ass lady hitting me with her jeep.

So it'll pull a ton of stuff and turns like a two minute quarter mile?
(scratch)

+1 (iagree) Don't freight trains take miles to get up to speed? And by speed, I mean 45mph.

Missed a few words so it didnt make sense so let me rephrase...or even better I'll quote somedody else that reviewed it:

Out at the track, the new and improved WRX launches hard; all four tires spin as the car leaps forward as if it were rear-ended by a bus. A mere 1.6 sec pass before 30 mph is reached, a time on par with the new BMW M3 and Cadillac CTS-v. Sixty mph comes in 4.7 sec, and the five-door, five-passenger hatchback we tested covered a quarter mile in 13.5 sec at 101.1 mph

I believe the WRX can hit 60 in 2nd gear before they run out of gear thus their 0-60 is fast. I read in road and track a little tidbit in their test stats section that they posted the 0-60 leaving it in 2nd gear but when doing the 1/4 mile they had a slower 60mph time due to the fact it was actually more ideal to shift sooner to maintain the car in its power band. I wish our 1st 2nd weren't so close.

I'm glad the WRX's are getting back to where they were.

FYI, buddy of mine took my bone stock MS3 down a track with a 0-60 of 4.1 and 1/4 mile of 13.9. "Official" numbers for comparison is a joke, since none of them are with the same driver, and the driver has a LOT to do with how fast the car goes.

Comparatively, my fastest times were 0-60 5.0 and 1/4 mile of 15.

that's cool man! i should be running at or very close to a 12 sec 1/4 mile pass. I just added a GM BCS and reflashed to a dif. map. car is making a ton of tq now. comparing it to some that are dynoing sim. mods are around the 250 whp / 330 ft lb ot tq mark. I fig i am a little below that power wise. check out romraider as well...there maybe people working on maps for the 09 that you can simply download and flash with a tactrix cable.
