3M CLear Bra?

Anyone done this yet? Just curious how it looks on a Ti Grey MS6 prior to investing 6-800 bucks on it!

I have 3M Clear Bra installed on my parent's 06' Pathfinder (white). You won't be able to tell if you have the clear bra on or not, it's barely visible. It's only visible if you stand next to it.
While that being said, keep in mind that material used is one thing, but the quality of the installer is the most important aspect of it. Make sure you ask the installer how many years of experiences they have in installing clear bra and if they have sample of finished work.

Just to give you a price idea. My parent's 06' pathfinder costed me/brother $814 with taxes which includes the whole front bumper, partial hood, partial side fender, and driver/passenger side mirror. He also included door edge at free of charge. Overall? I personally think it's well worth it to protect yourself from all the rock chips.

Does this fade at all? Can dirt get behind it? If so, how easily can this be removed without damaging the paint?

I got some of the clear 3m from a guy from ebay. The hood was a pain in the ass to install and I have some air bubbles but it's only visible if you stand right up to it. Otherwise it's impossible to see from a distance. The side fenders I was able to get on w/o any air pockets. Guess it's practice. It came with a video that shows how to do everything. Overall I'm pretty pleased with it and it looks good too. I have a Titanium Grey Speed6 also.

I have a friend that suggested I get this done on my new MS6, but with all my bills... and the cost of getting this done, I just can't afford it right now. Is it true though, that it should be applied as close to "new" as possible for best results?

Anyone have any pics? Before I get into the 3M bra I wanna see how visible it is from a distance.

The stuff they use is the exact same thing that some manufacturers use for stone guards. You can't apply it and remove it and reapply it. Once its on its on. On a white or black car I would definately recommend it cause black cars show rock chips bad especially on front bumpers. White cars show bugs bad too. Over time they do start to yellow and show this on a white car.

jbiird317,
I have not heard anyone with 3M clear bra fading. Once the clear bra is on, it's like part of the paint so the dirt won't get in it. Unless of course, you take it off and reinstall it. But why would you?

Danstona,
The reason people suggest getting it done early as possible because that's when the paint is fresh. In another word, swirl free and rock chips free. If you have driven your car for a while and washed it couple of times, chances are you'll have swirls or minor rock chips. So, once the clear bra is installed, you won't be able to detail those swirls off and the repair those rock chips. Unless you want to blow $800 to take the clear bra off and repair those damages. For example, I had my parent's pathfinder clear bra installed the next day I drove it off the dealer. In between, it was just parking in the garage to avoid any damages.

I would highly recommend this if anyone intend to keep the car clean and for a long time. It would definetly boost the resale value. That's of course, if you can afford the cost because it is quite pricy. But the result is well worth it.

The car is dirty, I just got done driving 200 miles yesterday so I haven't gotten a chance to wash it. But here it is...

I have the pictures in original size. So you can enlarge it to see it. Click on the "All Size" in the menu bar just above the picture.

As you can see, you can hardly see it from a distance. It's only visible when your'e close up to the car AT certain angle.

it would cost me less money to get the hood re-painted if it was that bad. And the bumper as well. 800 bucks is way too much for this.

something to keep in mind is that the primer used on the hood and bumper is black.

First day of my vacation this year I had a rock hit my hood. 4 chips on it now....@#$%@!%$%. And Mazda's touch up paint pens are worthless...washes right off.
