3 years of Free Nav Maps

Not sure how many people knew about this, but I sure didn't. We get 3 years of free map updates with our Mazda3s. If this is in the manual or Nav book somewhere, woops. I prefer flying by the seat of my pants. :)

Go to that website, click "Free Map Updates" and then download the PC Client. You'll need the SD Card out of your car (in your arm rest) and an SD card reader on your computer. Your computer might prompt you to "fix" the SD Card, click NO.

There was already 1 map update for me. I considered waiting to register and extend my 3-years of free maps a little longer once some big improvements were made, but it looks like your subscription is actually linked to the date of vehicle purchase. Clock is ticking! Registering also enabled my 60-day trial of the connected extras (traffic, gas prices, etc). Not sure how that actually gets activated in the vehicle - maybe through the SD Card. Wondering if this also kicks in my SiriusXM trial.

Dealer told me that there's 3 years free map updates when I purchased the car. I'm not updating anything yet, still new so no need, even if there's tiny updates here and there.

Your 3 years starts from the date of vehicle purchase, not when you register on the site from what I can tell. No incentive to waiting.

The smart start guide states to register within 60 days of vehicle purchase.

How much after 3 years? What does the traffic cost after 60 days?
What is the source of the traffic info and how good is it?

I can't get the naviextras.com site to work. I get to the point where I select Mazda, and then try to continue, and I get an error page. In IE (11, Windows 8.1, 64-bit) I get "This page can't be displayed". In Chrome I get "The webpage has a redirect loop." I have the SD card plugged into a USB port via an adapter that came with a different SD card I purchased years ago. The adapter has always worked before with that other card. I can see the contents of the SD card in Windows.

Maybe I'll have to try from work where I have Windows 7 and IE 10.

The site changed a couple weeks ago. The tool which I still have installed no longer can connect to the server to check for updates. It looks like they unpublished everything related to updating the 2014 Maps for now.

I have the same problem. It has been broken for a few weeks now since they changed their website. I reported the issue to them 1-2 weeks ago and they told me to remove some .reg file off the SD card. I made copy of SD card and tried with other SD card and still can't connect. Don't want to remove reg file off working/car SD card and lose my free updates whenever the site is working again.

I think mazda is going to have some tool on the hands free site someday to from emails I exchanged with them to. I submitted some map problems.

I wish the voice / pronunciation is better on future updates to.

BTW, https://mapreporter.navteq.com is the site Naviextras support pointed me to report map problems.
