3" in/out muffler suggestions?

alright guys...like the title says, i am looking for the best sounding 3 inch muffler to weld in line on my exhaust. i currently have turbo xs downpipe, turbo xs race pipe w/ magnaflow high flow cat welded on, hooked to a racing beat catback with chambered muffler removed and replaced with straight through 3 inch magnaflow muffler in its place. recently the magnaflow has this rattling noise comin from the muffler at idle and sounds like ass. i am looking at replacing it with another 3 in inline muffler, but need suggestions. ive looked into the aero turbine mufflers and i also saw a GHL resonator 3 in on str33t units website for sale. i even contemplated getting one of those. any suggestions guys? i want to keep my rb dual tips, so the muffler has to be weld on inline of catback. thanks in advanced!

wow thats a complicated sounding exhaust. Racing Beat cat-back with a magnaflow muffler now being replaced by something else, lol. I like magnaflows sound the best, too bad you're getting some weird sounds out of yours. Good luck

LOL its frankenexhaust...but you oughta hear it...its insane sounding. the chambered muffler on the rb catback made it sound completely stock. i like hearing that gurgle/wooshin/etc. with the magna, its real deep and at wot sounds like a boeing 747 on take off......shhhhhhhhhoooowoooooooooopppppp lol. im wondering if i need a diff muffler or if i can just put on a 3inin/out resonator. then it would be a TBE with hfc and 2 resonators instead of hfc, 1resonator, and 1 muffler. would the res get rid of the gurgle? i am eyeballing that GHL resonator...hmmm. but yea my magna at idle sounds like someone takin tin foil and crunching it...every couple seconds. its annoying as hades. sounds like the insides are coming apart.

Have you tried checking all your exhaust hangers? Rattling usually means loose parts. Magnaflow doesn't make questionable parts (I've had their CBE's on my '91 Civic and my '02 Sentra Spec V). I guess there is a possibilty of a defective part. But I would trouble shoot first. Especially since you like the muffler. I have both resonators removed with full stock exhaust. I get pop and gurgle all the time. Sometimes loud backfires. I wouldn't recommend getting rid of the second resonator

I wasn't saying that I would get rid of anything, I was thinking of replacing the magnaflow muffler with a GHL resonator, so then my exhaust will be downpipe - race pipe with HFC - catback with resonator - 2nd GHL resonator - dual tips. Comprendo?

This is definitely not a hanger issue, as where I had the muffler welded on , there isn't a hanging. It sounds like whatever is inside the muffler is making the noise. it is QUITE annoying. My exhaust farts and pops more than it used to, so I am wondering if something went inside the muffler?

Vibrant makes a 3 inch "Ultraquiet" Resonator that is high quality stainless. It is a straight through design with no chambers, just a lot of sound absorbing material in the shell around the straight through pipe. See my sig below. I use it as a true reso mounted up in the race pipe section instead of a high flow cat to tame the drone. Might work for you for your purpose. Just a thought. There is no measurable restriction in exhaust flow through that reso.

Thank you for the suggestion. I was definitely checking out vibrant, and they have some really nice mufflers/resonators. I want to keep a nice deep gurgle tone but kinda tone down the popping and farting, plus this crunching noise it makes now. I heard it this morning idling at a light on my way to work. Sound like someone takes a screw driver every couple seconds and makes a small single tap on the muffler....but instead of a hollow sound or a thud, its kinda like a crunch sound. Like the muffler is too hot and it almost makes a ping type sound. Very hard to explain.

hey im sorry to bother but i have a question. my 2000ES is running with 4'25 muffler and stock headers and pipe the question is will that affect my engine compression or something? any anwers will be trully appreciated
