3.5L V6 now rated at 265 HP

^^ 350z = 298HP :) but yeah premium fuel REQUIRED with the cams the Z runs.

in the Altima/Maxima it is recommended, and I definitely feel a difference when the car changes to compensate for crap gas.

There will be a 2009 Mazdaspeed 6 with the DISI turbo treatment pushing close to 400 HP.

Hey where is your source for this? And is this with DISI 2.3L or DISI V6??! I find that hard to believe at this point.

That is with the 3.5L DISI turbo set-up. My sources are well known on this board.

Interesting...I can't imagine the power potential of 3.5L DISI Turbo with mods...The 2.3 version is already rising star.

Mazda3 was posting a lot of info on the CX-7 before it was out...(thumb) I think he is a trustworthy source. Keep it coming Mazda3...Thanks!

265 HP is the watered down high fuel economy version of this motor. There will be higher 300+ HP versions of this motor offered in the CX-9 and the new 6 about a year down the line. This motor is not low tech, anyone who thinks it is needs do some research. There will be a 2009 Mazdaspeed 6 with the DISI turbo treatment pushing close to 400 HP.

I find this to be very possible since even 500hp has become common place for many autos even today. Viper, Z06, M5/M6, 911-t. 400hp even more so. GTO, Vette, SRT-8, new M3, and probably soon to be evo and sti. Granted these car cost more, some much more than an MS6, but in three years these numbers (350-400hp) are probably dead on for mazda.

Wow, thats awesome... I wonder where Mazda is going with the huge power... a super sedan? 400hp is a lot for a car, and the aftermarket can bring it up to 500hp easy with the 3.5 litres of displacement... It would probably be twin-turbo as well.

I am starting to like this trend of engine development, out goes the large displacement, in comes the TURBOS! Mainly because the gas prices are so high!

I have a turbo back CP-E 3 inch Exhuast, AEM cold air intake, APT GT3076 Garrett turbo upgrade kit (running at around 22 lb of boost, GReddy type RS blow off valve, CP-E Front mount Intercooler (B/C putting a top mount on this car was a dume move by mazda)

total cost = 4363.46

AND I make around 458 hp and around 473 ft lb Tq at all 4 wheels, still tuning it. I can make well over 500 hp but Im not going to un tell I get the cosworth big cyilinder heads and crank shaft.

Turbos.....are......thirsty.

Plus having a small engine doesn't mean getting good fuel economy. Just ask RX-8 owners.
