Toying with the idea of buying a FIT... 2 separate Honda dealerships barely discounted the FIT and on top of that, they offered me only 12K (!) for the 2 w/ 3K miles. Didn't even bat an eye when I walked.

what you expect for selling a car right off the lot? they are only 16k new, and dealers are discounting them this time of year. I could probally buy a new 2 touring for 14k right now

That's typical dealership machination. Don't sweat it.

BTW, my wife has a Fit and I have a M2. Having both available to me daily, why would you want a Fit over a M2? The only real advantage that I can see to a Fit is increased cargo space.

What do you feel that you'll gain or that you are missing?

Added: The only decent current Honda is the Fit. IMHO, The other Hondas really suck.

Every mom and her grandma is buying a Fit -- they have no incentive to bargain on them. Have you driven one much? I really wanted to get one at first, but they kind of drive like a refrigerator. At least it's a walk-in with all that space.

The margins on the lower priced cars are not there for dealers so there is not much wheeling and dealing you will find. We had looked at buying another 2 to use for B-Spec racing and the only time I found one which was cheaper was a 2011 on the lot and they had a few 2012s there as well.

I have a 2 with 19k miles and the dealers keep saying they can buy them for 10 at the auction and they say.."oh theyre only 14 new" then I have to explain to them mine is the touring (trying to get into an rx8, need them to give me 11,800 for mine to make that happen)

Yea the NADA trade-in value is around $12k but still $15k for retail sale...
Oh and why Honda? Thats like giving up your Megan Fox girlfriend and going out with Phoebe from "Friends"... retarded and boring lol.

The FIT is awesome. Very slick shifter, sweet interior, and INCREDIBLE packaging. I want to dump my 2 because @ 3K miles, the thing is rattling like CRAZY. On cold mornings, it sounds like I'm on an old public bus. Basically feels like it's falling apart. My friend has a FIT, and it sounds VERY SOLID @ 39K miles. And with some light hypermiling techniques, he gets 39-42. Also, Mazda dealerships are scant compared to Hondas - had to go one hour to get that major dash rattle listened to - of course I couldn't replicate the sound as soon as the guy went on a ride with me. But yeah, the dealer network isn't convenient, resale obviously blows, and the car just rattles like nothing. And I've babied it!

personally i didnt buy my m2 for resale value i purchased it for fuel economy but after buying 6 new vehicles in the last 10 years i can tell no new car has good resale value for atleast 4 -5 years that is when most cars stop depreciating and hold there value a while..i havnt ever gotten there i keep trading them in a losing money until now the m2 will die under me period ..

I don't understand how you have so many problems with your 2. I'm at 8k and I've never had one issue. My dealer takes great care of my car during servicing. I average 36-40 mpg depends on how heavy my foot is that tank.

I'm not having many issues... it's just that the car is a rattlebox. Much more so than it should be at only 3K. I shudder to think what the car will sound like in 20 degree weather!

Rattling isnt bad on mine. I love the way the car handles on the autox courses, with my racing wheels\tires on she looks pretty mean, she gets great gas mileage..but personally the lack any power at all, mixed with looking like a big dork in a tiny little car that the wife makes fun of daily, and the yearning to go back to rwd after a 8 year hiatus makes the rx8 the car of choice in the near future (next summer would probably make more financial sense but we will see).

Glory is within reach! I've got a Honda dealer willing to do my 2 + $1,500.00 for a 2013 Honda FIT base 5 speed! I'll whittle these guys down... will settle at my car + $1,000.00!

So what are they giving you in trade for your 2? I need ammo for the stupid dealers im dealing with.

Well, it's my 2 + $1500 (and the dealer doc, tax, title, reg)... so I'm not exactly sure how it breaks down... but I have far more leverage than you simply because my 2 is only 2 months old and has 3K miles on it.

How does your wife/girlfriend like her FIT?

I'm feeling kinda sad already, but damnit, the 2 is hard to live with!

Why not keep dailying the 2 and use the money you save to buy a cheap RWD track/autox car instead? A 2 and a Miata would be a pretty awesome combo to have, or you could have an E30 like I have.

Honestly because occasionally I have this "I look like a dork" feeling\embarrassed just being seen in the 2. People on the autox courses love it and respect it...but outside of that I just get tired of all the comments....plus i change cars every year or two...I have car a.d.h.d.

you guys are funny. drive what s fun and makes you happy. I've had a Fit and now drive a 2. The Fit has more cargo space, and visual mods.. but the 2 is funner to drive. As far as build quality, i have to say the 2's interior, minus the guages, is way nicer.
