225 tires too wide?

I have 225/45ZR17 on my wheels (17x7.5 48mm offset). No rubbing and the car is planted in turns. Tires are way stickier than the stock and I feel the added width plays a part of that as well.

I'd like to do the opposite....I LOVE the horizontal slat grille on the S - looks way more integrated and high-end. I have to use a small screwdriver and an armor-all soaked rag to get the water stains, etc out of my grille - hate it.
