Man, I tell you the 215/45/18 stock tire size really limits your tire choices!! That just blows!
I'd like to go to a 225/40/18 size on my stock rims on my bone stock '08 MS3 as there are so many more tire options vs the 215/45/18 the car has now.
I'm trying to get to some Michelin PS A/S tires because I often go to the Texas hill country in winter and sometimes the weather can get dangerous when ones car is equipped with summer tires.
I even put 225/45/18 into a tire calculator and it is slightly taller than stock. The 225/40/18 is just slightly shorter.
Am I utterly mad for wanting to do this? What kind of problems do you guys think I'll have? Will the slightly wider tire size f*ck anything up like the steering (even worse torque steer or tramlining!!??). Will I have clearance problems?
Any help, ideas or opinions would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers all!
