Mazda...uh, something
Im sure its been asked b4 but i couldnt find anything on it...

If at all possible, what offset would I be needing to runn a 225/40/17 on a 17x7...assuming a 225 would even fit well on a 7" wide wheel. I think it will since I used to run a 205 on my old car's stock 6" wide rims.

215 max im pretty sure. i was told either 205 or 215 i dont see you fitting a 225 on there. maybe i dunno. but youll want to go 30 or 35 if you do squeeze it on. remember the middle number is a percentage of the width so a 225/40 is significantly taller than a 215/40.

i dont care about keeping a stock sized rolling diameter...I figure if people can fit 215/45s on a 7.5" why cant I fit a 225/40 on a 7"

same reason you cant fit 18" tires on a 17" rim. just wont fit.

remember there is a big difference between the width and heigth.

so yur saying a 225 wont fit on a 7" rim at all?

i think it will, cuz I ran 205s on 6" wide wheels that came with 185s, so i think its possible to go to 225s on a 7".

I think you'll be fine, but it might depend on the tire. DiscreetSpeed is running 225-45-17 T1-S on the stock MSP wheels I'm pretty sure.

people have mentioned that it would on this board, but ive never actually seen someone say: "i have 225s on a 17x7"

arent msp wheels 7.5 wide though?

nope, they are 17x7....they have to be, because with the stock 215s the lip of the rim would be sticking out past the tire on a 7.5, but they dont.

nope, 7".

and I read about the bs you're going through in your thread, sorry to hear about all that, hope it works out.

thanks for the words.

well i stand corrected...you would be the first i think that ive met though. i looked around and some of the internet tire companies dont even carry that size. the other ones returned special order tires with like one result. so even if it does work, it doesnt sound like the best economic idea to go with, because if something ever happened, and you know how s*** does...youd be hard pressed to get a tire in a decent time frame.

also, i checked it out...the rolling diameter will only be .4" more with a 225/40/17 compared to stock.

i also heard about the guy running the 225/45/17s...so i think with a 40 series and perfect offset(48 im thinkin) it'll keep the tire away from the fender and everything.

ah yeah, didnt even think about that...

yeah, you can get them and they'll fit, but I hear its quite a significant rise in price from a 215 or so.

Yeah, I've also never heard of a 225/40/17, what tire are you considering?

Like Matthew said, i searched and I could only find ONE tire model that come sin that size from discounttire, tirerack, etc.... Nitto NT555.

go to 225/45/17 and you get like 100+results  figures...
