224whp MPI dyno tuned

Ok...all my pulls were around 10psi. Pump Gas 93octane.

Sometimes It would do only 9.5 and sometimes near 11psi

I used the dyno to just do some fine tuning and see the graphics results and to check for ping and knock. And actually...it happened when added some timing @ 3000rpms and up top 6300rpms.

Surprisingly...my tunning was good...a map similar to what Little Beavis did for me on the streets @ 6-7psi. So I added some more fuel, pulled some timing and went up to 10+psi.

At this moment I was very concerned with pinging and detonation and guess what, I was 2 degrees before it starts to get noticed. So now Im pulling 11 degrees off.

Check the pictures:

1st pic is highest (10.5psi) and lowest (9psi)...
2nd pic is 9psi...just rubbing 9.5psi
3rd pic is the compilation of my dyno plots inlcuding N/A

Waz up bro, love the car man. but i have a question for ya i have a buddie who builds turbo kits on his spare time. he has a 95 jetta with 327 whp and an ungodly amount of torqe he is going to build me one but he doesnt have any clues about mazda's. the only thing he needs to know is about the fuel system. he needs to know if i need bigger fuel injectors or what. i fiquired since you have a pr5t that you might be able to help me with this small perdicament. Thanx proto503 Tim

what size turbo is that? I might have to try your maps for 10psi, even tho im on the mp3 ecu...I would just have to fix some timing no?
 
yeah man...

our cars runs very high timing advance (40+) which is bad for the internals, the mp3 looks like run even more advanced on some ocasions....so be aware.

The size of the turbo is...just a normal T3, .48/.42 with .60 upgrade.

About the SAE or anything....I dont know. I just used the numbers for reference. Most cars here in PR use the dyno numbers it gives, so if I pull 224, I have 224....its not like "its that SAE?" I will ask tomorrow. I may need some more pulls.

Just for the record...that same night my friend's CelicaGTS Turbo was only able to pull 182WHP @ 6psi....a car that STOCK has 185HP (~160whp)

Nice work dude! The video was a nice touch. Did you do 3rd or 4th gear pulls? When we did ours with Nick, he had us do 4th gear pulls from about 2500 RPM, that way you get a good load on the motor and is a great way to tune. Give it a try next time.
 
Oh, by the way Igdrasil, NICE NUMBERS!!! I am running the same boost as you now. My A/F ratios spike to 13's when I stomp on it, and settle back down. You are right about the MP3's having a s*** load of advance. I am pulling back 23 degrees at the most. Whatever it takes to keep the J&S at the minimum.

Only 3rd gear....I was upping the ignition, so load and pinging could be destructive in 4th gear.

That sounds about right!! Ah by the way when I have 13 on the A/F @ 3000rpms, just like you when I stomp on it, it pings briefly, I had to do some retard @ those low rpms.

In the video, is the top "running condition" bar graph your A/F?
yep...thats the stock O2 sensor reading....in the first try, it would read lean, thats because it was cold.

I went back to the Dyno to see my graph again, and yes...it wasnt SAE corrected.

With the correction it was showing ~219whp
