2019 CX-5 - Using auxiliary key not working

I'm following the instructions to turn the aux key to the right to unlock, but it doesn't work. What am I doing wrong?

Nothing. I just tried it for the first time. Turn it to the left, it locks. To the right, it unlocks.

If you can't turn it to the left or the right, it's not you, it's the key and it must be the wrong one.
