[2016 Probably 2017] Turn engine off only

Actually I think it was a late 90's Mercedes... can't remember the model though.

S Class I believe

The 1998 S Class was the first to have a SmartKey system, but on that one you still had a "fob" of sorts, that you stuck into a slot and turned to start the car. It just didn't have a normal key tumbler with mechanical pins in it. I'm pretty sure the S2000 was the first production car to have a push button to operate the starter motor.

I had two nephews with S2000s... I think a 2000 and a 2003. I think I do remember the push button start but I think one still had to put a key in the ignition although the start function was through the button.

I think complete pushbutton with just a fob in pocket was like an '02 Lexus LS 430.. I could be wrong on that though. Also I think the push button on Honda you had to hold in until car started unlike today just pressing the button once and moving your hand away.

I tried this yesterday and it worked like a charm. One bit of strangeness though. The car does indeed go into ACC mode with this method but only the driver's window can be operated. None of the other windows work, either from the driver's controls or from the controls on the doors. I didn't think to try the sunroof though...

The wipers and radio work at least.

That is strange. AFAIK all windows should be operating (uhm)

I played with this a bit more yesterday. As far as I can tell, if you're in park and hold the shift knob in while shutting the car off, only the radio and the driver's window remain powered.

Quirky
