2016 Mazda CX-5 - What do you not like?

Here's more of a gripe, with under 20k miles, my cx5 is telling my key fobs battery needs to be replaced..whattt. My wifes elantra gt has over 50k miles on it and original battery in the key fob. Did Mazda cut money and use a cheap battery with the key fob as well? lol

Same here. Just turned 20k and the warnings came on a few weeks ago. Strangely they've now gone away and I haven't replaced the batteries yet. But I did notice I couldn't use the remote lock/unlock features while that warning was happening. But the rubber buttons on the door handles still worked.

I think they drain faster than older fobs due to their keyless nature.

OK, now we're just nitpicking. :D

Its the batteries in the fobs. Sort of like an expensive 4k hdtv with 99cent batteries in remotes. I replaced with Energizers and so far so good.

Yeah, the message comes and goes. It doesn't come on every time. But my wifes elantra gt is keyless entry. So that can't be it. Hopefully it's just the battery that's currently in there.

Replaced my fob battery a bit over 30k miles. Don't quite remember exactly the mileage but it was over 30k under 40k.

We shall see. I remember other members on here saying ~2 years was average for their Mazda Fobs.... But I didn't pay attention to the battery vendor(s).

Good to know. Guess I will be replacing them soon. If the battery were to completely die, we just start the car by tapping the key fob against the start/stop button right? I know off topic, but good piece of info for everyone to know.

I haven't gotten to that point but there is a physical slot for the metal key near the shifter. I guess it take less power for the car to sense the key fob than it does for the fob to open the car due to range. Hence avoid the drama and just buy new batteries.

Oh interesting. Never have seen that before. My previous Elantra required you to put the key fob up against the button. Magnet I guess? But you're absolutely right, I gotta get to the store.

Just looked up the guide, there is a lot of prying to get to the battery.

That is not a physical slot for the metal key, that is a Shift Lock Override. jhu8 is right, holding the keyfob with a dead battery above the start button will start the car.

Thanks for both clarifications.

Has anyone felt the car might topple if you are at highway speeds with cross winds turing right and winds blowing right to left? I felt a slight back pain after a run during heavy winds realizing i sat stiff due to being edgy about handling.

Nothing like that here..but I'm coming from an Elantra and that thing was uneasy as hell on the highway.

Had that feeling in other cars. Not this one yet. And not topple or flip just getting pushed out of the lane.
Looking forward to high winds in this car to see how it handles. Is this your first tall car?

I wouldn't say topple if i think of it. Rain plus night plus wind plus downhill road curving ... Felt the car was being pushed out of lane. I remember once drove 2013 Rogue. Awful feeling even while switching lanes.

Yes.

Good. It was a daft thing to say really.
