2016 Mazda 3 : Upgrade to Homelink Mirror?

Hi everyone!
I'm new here and just got my first Mazda (2016 3i Grand Touring).
I'd like to exchange the standard auto-dimming mirror with one that has the Homelink remote. There is a Mazda accessory (0000-8C-L46) I'd like to get, but there's a disclaimer that it's "not available on vehicles with factory installed Auto-Dimming Mirrors"

Does anyone here have experience with this change? Does it work?

Thanks!

It is very easy to install. All the wiring is already there. It's literally plug and play as long as you get OEM.

The only "tricky" part is removing the plastic cover off the driver side interior A-pillar to expose the wiring harness. The included instructions are very clear and simple to follow. Good luck.

Hi YelPro,
yes, that's what I just realized. Finally got around to pick up the part at the dealership and start the exchange this afternoon.
It surprised me that the plugs differ, as I was expecting the process to be "unplug old - plug in new - done". Too dark to work on the wiring now, will attempt that tomorrow. The instructions are indeed very detailed, so it shouldn't be too difficult, only unexpected.

Alright, done :-) It was indeed pretty straight forward, took about 20min all-in, and I managed to not break anything in the process.
