2016 CX5 warranty ending 1k miles

An extended warranty!
My 3 years is coming up in a couple months and I only have 16,400 on odometer. Luckily no problems, everything has been perfect.
Knock on wood.
Brake pads. If too low like 3mm or so my dealership would replace free under 36k warranty.

Agreed on brake pads, especially the rears. Though mine didn't go till about 50k.

That would be my guess, but never hurts to ask.
My rears are getting down there... gonna swap out in the spring when the winters come off. I'll probably be in the mid 40k range.
Depends on your dealer I guess. Although the CX-5 oem brake pads lasted through 70k miles and had maybe 5mm left (I installed new PowerStop pads front/rear) with original rotors still on there. On the other hand, my Mazda6 rears were wearing fast and so I called the dealer for a quote....they said its covered under warranty. Yessir!!!
So.....ask a dealer and if you get turned down go to another. If all else fails call Mazda USA. Going down to 3-4mm within 36k miles is not normal wear and tear.
Also check: Paint defects, Window regulators, windshield spray pump, power locks, ect. Not really known to break but good to check.
More importantly is the 60k power train warranty:
Check for engine leaks
Transmission leaks
Serpentine belt Tensioner (Same company as Toyota? bad batches by supplier, got mine replaced under warranty)

I'm at 59k miles now so thank you for this, very helpful.
Drop that bottom cover and do a thorough search for any of the leaks I am in "diagnostic mode" to determine root cause. There is also that cam chain cover leak that you would see at right rear of motor. Try to look from top and bottom
I wonder?... if Mazda pays well on warranty claims dealer may be more inclined point out legitimate claims. If not.. they may wait around until post warranty for full labor charge.

The potential top leak is easily seen with the hood open on right rear corner of motor... passenger side.
The underside would require some of the smaller panels at least to be removed in the center. Area exposed would't normally be removed during an oil change so a tech may not notice.

Brake pads are NOT covered in 3 year/36,000 warranty. It's covered for 12,000 / 12 month warranty. Ditto - for rotors.
Mazda states this explicitly.
If you, after purchase of the car replace at an authorized Mazda dealership with OEM brake pads after the initial 12 month / 12,000 miles then those brake pads are guaranteed for life as long as you're the original owner of the car. However, any associated labor costs must be borne by the owner.
Mazda pays here, in NJ 119$ per hour however they have set time for a specific job which is usually very aggressive. So no - here in NJ/PA/NY/CT dealers do NOT like dealing with Mazda warranty claims. At the same time, many have confirmed to me that Mazda is the best when it comes to JP companies with Nissan being the worst. As CX5-Sum said - it depends on dealership to dealership.
