2016 CX-5 Parking sensor warning sign reversing and SCBS Malfunction

1. The parking sensors on my 2016 Mazda CX-5 Akera (Australia) are not working properly. While reversing, a warning sign appears. Sometimes the sensors do work, but mostly they don't. I have already tried cleaning the sensors.

2. It's also showing a warning message: "SCBS Reverse Malfunction."

(There is no towbar installed and these parking sensors are factory installed not aftermarket.)

What could be the issue?

It's 8 or 9 years old. Maybe a loose/broken wire? Sensor gone bad?

Are you able to pull the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) ?

It seems to me, the processing unit (usually a small black box) of parking sensors fails (not the sensors).
If you can locate it (by following the sensor wires), check the connections to the unit.

This message: ""SCBS Reverse Malfunction." tells me that the BCM cannot detect this black box properly. My guess.
