2016 CX-5 Infotainment buttons glitching

I have a 2016 CX-5 GT and a few weeks ago my system started glitching
It switches stations, sometimes goes to navigation, adjusts volume, and screen display.... it happens for a few minutes and continuously
I cannot stop it from switching and if the volume gets raised to max, I am hearing command very loudly with no way to stop it
I am in Fl, near the beach, and I'm wondering if it could be an issue with the sun in the dashboard for long periods of time... I am always parked outside as my wife uses the garage for her new car
Hoping that maybe just a sun visor will help (just got one and put in on the dash a few hours ago).. the dealer wants over $1500 to replace the unit (I don't have android audio which would be nice but not worth $1500)
Any ideas of what else could be causing this issue? I have tried cleaning the console with canned air but it seems clean.. is there a way to remove the buttons to see if something is under them... I doubt it because it happens randomly and affect all of the controls
Thanks for any advice

It does sound like something in the buttons, but it could be a short someplace that affects all of them, like in the interface to the unit. That might be why they want to replace it.
Do you know how to remove the dash area around the unit?

Sounds like "Ghost touch" is likely your issue. IIRC, there's a way to disable the touch screen (cutting a wire or blocking a pin out 🤔) that will stop it but you loose touch ability.

I can remove it if I need to.... but not sure what to do after it is open

How do I disable touch? I know I can disable the display but where is the touch disabled from
Search the site for ghost touch or something similar, there's posts detailing how to do it. It's not as easy as selecting options in one of the menus. I think you have to remove radio and cut or jumper a wire or two. If you can't do it you can probably find a radio shop to do it. Lot cheaper than replacing the unit.

Most of the issues that I see with ghost touch affect the 2017 and newer model years... with the screen above the dash.. my screen is in the dash but the top of the dash does get very hot....not sure how it lasted 8 years
