2014 Engine Oil - Canada vs US - Synthetic?

I'm a bit confused by the maintenance schedules. Hopefully someone out there can enlighten me...

I had thought that the 2014 Mazda5 was synthetic 0w20. Looking at the maintenance schedule, the US "commuting" drivers are to do oil changes at 16,000 km, but anyone who drives their vehicle in town, uses the brakes, ie "harsh" conditions, and us Canucks are to use Schedule 2, which requires 8,000 km oil change intervals. That in my opinion, and I would think popular consensus would agree that that is WAY too early to be changing synthetic, regardless of driving conditions.

So is 2014 Mazda5 using synthetic, or conventional 0w20?

As far as I know 0W20 weight oil is strictly synthetic oil. Meaning there is no such thing as 0W20 conventional dino oil. Someone, please correct me if I'm wrong. In my opinion I think 5K miles (8K kilometers) is more then enough for me to want to push any oil. So no in short I don't think its too soon but that's my take on it.

Mobil 1 0w-20 and M1-102 filter every 7500 miles for me.

Agree with above that you won't find that weight in a non-synthetic.
