2013 USB/iPod support, wtf?

Does anyone happen to know why/how the 2013 stereos order mp3s from a thumb drive?

I just tried it in mine and aside from the folder separation, I have no god damn idea how it is sorting them. I tried giving them clear names like 01 - <name>.mp3, 02 - <name>.mp3 etc and it still insists on ordering them in some bizarre manner.

Also noticed similar results from my wifes iPhone, it seemed to "folder" on playlists but it seemed to follow no logical ordering inside the playlist itself.

Mine will play the files in order (01, 02, 03, etc.), but it seems to sort only by the name of the folder the files themselves are in. So, if you have your USB drive sorted into folders by artist, then with albums underneath each artist's folder, it will ignore the artist folders, lump all the album folders together and sort them alphabetically. I need to play around with it a bit more to see if I can trick it into ordering the folders the way I want.
