Random But Repeated Loud Cracking Noise

Hi there. I have a 2013 CX-5 with a sunroof and often when I’m driving I’ll hear a loud crack that seems to come from the roof area. When it happens, my first reaction is that something hit the roof like a rock or maybe a seed pod from a tree. When I check the roof, the hood and the windshield, I don’t see any damage. My wife theorized that maybe it’s the car that’s making that noise, I am baffled.

Has anyone experienced this weirdness. I am pretty sure it’s come from above.

Yup, I get the same noise from time to time as well. I feel like it happens on really hot day and I have the A/C maxed cooling things down.
