2012 MAzda5 automatic shift knob

Hi all!

This is my first post, want to say 'hi' and have a question for you folks!

Just got a 2012 Mazda5 automatic and love the thing. Really enjoying the manu-matic mode....
However, finding the shift knob not really natural feeling to me. Like to replace it with this knob (pictured).
Do you know what's the knob thread? Is it 8mm x 1.25? (scratch)

Also, to remove the oem knob, so I turn it counter clockwise?

I searched the net and phoned the local Mazda Parts as well. No concrete answer. However, someone at my shop got the calipers out and 8 x 1.25 seems right.

So does the stock knob just twist off counter-clockwise, with no surprise?

Just like unscrewing a light bulb, the thread is fairly deep inside so maybe 3 light bulbs
