Hey all, I was wondering if a Canadian boy can get some advice on my recent purchase. I know i should probably be hanging out in the Canadian thread but i'd like to get more opinions on my situation.
I recently ordered my 2012 M3 hatch (in Canada its called the "sport") with one the last 2.5's instead of the Sky-active (wasn't a huge fan of the sky-active, kinda had an rx-8 vibe if the rx-8 wore a dress on weekends, and is essentially a de-tuned version of the new Ford Focus 2.0 power plant).
Anyways, dealer is offering me extended warranty for $1400 for two extra years on the bumper-to-bumper, bringing it to 5 years total. He is offering to throw in free rust-proofing for life (10yrs) with that. Here in Montreal, rust proofing is a must on a yearly basis and would cost me around 70$ per year so its not a huge incentive, BUT most places drill holes in the car and I don't want to have to deal with Mazda on this "fuzzy" issue of voiding my warranty with a swiss-cheezed underbody.
Anyways, any thoughts on the extented warranty, is it worth it? Power train is already covered for 5 years, and i've read a lot of threads describing what these warranties don't cover and i'm really not impressed.
thoughts?
