How the hell did he do that? I'm sorry, that's not something you do by mistake, even if you're a new manual driver. You can't easily do that and Mazda's manual transmissions won't shift into first gear easily at all if you're doing more than like 10mph. When I first started with my car I accidentally went from 5th to 1st (accidentally skipped 3rd, not used to the gears being so close together) and when I started letting the clutch out I heard a NASTY noise and pushed the clutch back in - problem solved. Either your friend is not very smart or I'm calling shens.
That was my first question to him, he said the gear will not go in so he forced it in, I was like dude there is a lock, if the car is going over a certain speed it will not allow you to down shift. He said that he did not know that. Bear in mind this guy is over 250lbs so he used a lot of force.
ok so after long negotiations with the dealer im switching to mazda 3 gt cause my car is still not ready and i do need a car, its the last time in my life i ever deal with mazda. id rather drive a ****** kia. thank you everyone for posting u've been a great help
yea i know i downgraded, but my social skill are very good id say, cause they messed up i got a brand new mazda 3 GT fully loaded for only $22000, so now i might not have a turbocharger but i do have around $5000 extra in my pocket. not that im braggin but i think its a pretty good deal.
yeah but going down from a speed to normal and going again manual if it is soo no way man!!
Not to sidetrack this thread but some people were saying that you cannot go into first gear over a certain speed. In ALL of my other manual transmission cars this was the case. NOT SO IN MY 3s GT. I can be doing 70 mph and easily get the stick to go into first gear. Granted, I havent let the clutch out going that fast because Im not a retard. However, it will go in just as smoothly going that fast as it will sitting still. Try it out if you dont believe me. There's no way my transmission is a factory freak that works perfect AND lets you shift into 1st at any speed.
