2010 Ice Racing

Subscribe to this thread if you are interested in going Ice Racing in 2010 at Newfound Lake in New Hampshire. The BMW club hosts the events and more information can be found here:

I highly recommend pre-registering and signing up for the news bulletin. The event is done as time-trials so you don't race wheel-to-wheel. Here is a video I made two years ago.

Yes you need to pre-register. Go to the link above and sign-in. Then go back to the ice-racing page and it should allow you to pre-register.

As far as dates go, as soon as I find out they are considering a Sunday, I'll post here...if Oleg doesn't get to it first. It is very weather-dependent so they might go next weekend or it could be the end of February.

There is really nothing dangerous about it...come, watch, and try yourself! Snow/Ice tires aren't required.

We warned him of the sharp right at the end of the front straight that turned to shear ice... but his AWD mustve been superior...

Yeah...I didn't go that day for that specific reason. It didn't look like the right conditions.

yes they allow studs...just make sure you select the right classification when you register.

Was cancelled for Jan 31, when is the next one?

They basically keep everyone on hold until the day before every Sunday from now until the end of March. Once it gets cold and stays cold we'll be on for racing.

It appears that we WILL be Ice Racing on February 7th!! As always you MUST watch for the last Bulletin at around noon on Saturday just in case. The current plan is to run at the Ledges Condominiums -- follow the DIRECTIONS to the TRADITIONAL Newfound Lake Site!!! It is possible that we will have to get on the ice at Wellington State Park -- see the Saturday Ice Racing Bulletin for a final decision.

Unfortunately I can't make it this Sunday. I'll be heading up to Maine for a ski trip.
