200whp+ safely

I've had a temporary setback, my turbo was leaking oil so I had to return my car to stock and take it to the dealer, I got my car back today and everything looks good again i've got some big installs comming real soon, my ported, polished, and vcts intake manifold is on its way as well

Hey, Ive been reading this thread and a few others.. questions...

- of 2.5 for an exhaust is the way to go why is everyone getting 3 and what company makes 2.5? only route is to go custom?

- what emc is the best to use, the unichip seems pointless, the mpi is more controlable..or am i wrong? I was thinking about just getting the dsm afc?

- right now i have an injen, was thinking about an exhaust setup or fmic.. my plan is wanting to be in the 250 range, what mods should i expect to have to get done? thanks

if your turbo, the bigger the exhaust the better, for the 250 whp your going to need to get a 3 inch turboback exhaust to get started, the fmic isnt going to produce half as much power... basically all you'll need is exhaust, fmic, injectors, ems, and 12 psi. The Unichip is not pointless, you can have it tuned should you choose, I'm getting mine tuned when I put everything back on my car, I'll let you know how it goes

3inch just seems like over kill.. we will see. I am thinking about going with teh dsm afc, mam fmic and maybe the ghl turboback exhaust setup for now.. with a joe mbc set at 10lbs.... hopefully that works out.. we will see...

Just got done reading this whole topic. I like your goal of 200 whp as I would like to do the same. Let me know how your finished setup runs as I may be taking pointers from you. As of now, i'm always hesistant to do any mods due to the "scary" posts i read. You know... the ones where people have popped motors, or problems out the A$$. :)

you wont make 250 whp with those mods most likely, give me 2 weeks and i'll let you know how my setup turns out

buy some motor mounts to make sure that your lsd dosnt go out on you if you want to be safe with even just your stock msp

I have the AWR Motor mounts and side Replacement Bushings, I Just haven't had the time to put themin yet. I may have the rear mount replaced by a shop though because from what i'm told its kinda a pain. I know thats a "Must Have" before anything can be done to the exhaust, on top of that from what I read, most aftermarket exhausts wont be covered under their warrantee if you don't upgrade the motor mounts. I have a bonus coming up the end of August so I may dump a bit into my car to get some decent mods.

very nice, yeah i had someone do my rear motor mount for 70 bucks... not a bad deal, it took him 6 hours!

Just out of curiosity, did you get it done at the dealer or at a local shop you know of?

get your stuff installed already, oh did you get the intake manifold from protege garage?

hell no I didnt get it from protege garage, I bought it off the forums, its just a modified stock intake manifold.... I'd personally recommend you get a Street Unit intake manifold if you were looking for an aftermarket one, it produces waaay more power than the protege garage one...

my parts will all be installed this weekend, tuning will be the following weekend... pics, video, and dyno sheets to come in the future

just out of curiousity, what is your reasoning behind this?

protege garage claims "Dyno gains of 24 wheel horsepower on a DynoJet" and its listed as 300 dollars.

********** claims "Peak gains of 14.7 whp and 16.5 ft/lbs of torque" and its listed as 545 dollars.

********** doesnt say which dyno they tested it on. both manifolds seem to be a great mod but saying the ********** one produces "waaay more power" is false information.

protege garage's car wasnt stock at the dyno, streetunits was bone stock, the gains are much bigger when you add additional mods to your car

this is all based from what i've read and heard, not to mention that every dyno will give you different numbers

im not trying to start a fight or anything.

check out their website. it was done at stock boost which would play the largest factor in the dyno.

that is absolutly not true because of the CustumMSP SMIC he had on his car, it raises the boost +1 psi, haha man i'm so over this discussion though, its all good

your right about it raising it one psi, i completely forgot about that. but how much gain do u get from 1 psi (under 10 for sure). still decent gains for the money if you ask me.
