200whp+ safely

Ye athat strue about the cat but , I guess you could start with the downpipe and go from catback to the mpi and so forth . Just dont boost it uyp without freeing up exhaust . My car has stayed in tact because of that.

yeah thats the plan man, what do you think about the corksport exaust? i could have hi-flow welded on to it for like 150 more...

j

Yea that would be ok Anything is better than stock . I htink my 3"' atback for my setup is to big .3" for over 300 whp is a must but the whp iam at 2.5 is ok

which exaust do you have?

f2.5 catless apex downpipe to a 3" custom catback with no muffler . i do have a big resonator though . I htink it sounds really good aand works well.

It was like 200 for the catback it not mandrel bend . Yea the apex doesnt replac eth es pipe it just the midpipe . So iam stock s pipe to apex to catback.

i'm not sure how this would turn out but i was thinking maybe i could get a MAM stainless steal midpipe for like $220, then get the corksport 2.4" downpipe for $250 and use my stock muffler...i think i'd have to get engine mounts for the corksport though...

I was wondering about the same set up. Corksport downpipe and MAM midpipe to stock axel back. So I say do it and let me know how it works out.

So this is my plan to get over 200whp with just two more mods to my current setup....

3" full exaust
Unichip at hi-boost

thats about all i want to do to my car, opinions? i'm an engineering student so i dont have time for a job, but i cant help but want to mod my msp, my funds pretty much come straight out of my student loans, so i want my mods to count and not blow my engine

what do you guys think?

why not just get it done at an exhaust shop...most places should do it for under $500...

I had 3" catback put on my MX-6 for like $150

ok guys heres what i think i'm doing i think i could get an apexR1 3" catback for about 300-350, and an mam 2.5" catted midpipe for like 215, i could also get a jic spartan de type 1 bullet catback for around 225, opinions?

Dude, if you only want 200 whp, you don't need a full exhaust. Get an Apex 2.5 incher. I got mine for $125 used about 1.5 years ago and it's still holding strong. You can keep the stock resonator and muffler too, keeps the sound quiet and stealthy. Or just go to a muffler shop and get a straight pipe made. Guys here in Dallas are doing it for $60 and seeing good gains. Just getting rid of the cats is all you need to do to the exhaust on a 200 whp car.

Get a new front motor mount and a rear one if you can afford it. The stock ones will definately rip. Those run about $80 each.

Upgrade your intake with a used injen - $125

Get a manual boost controller at 8-10 psi - $50
----
That's only about $450 there. Enough left over for an upgraded SMIC or a DSM AFC and you'd be over 200whp for under $1K.

not to threadjack, but.... which rods work with stock pistons????? Or do you mean stock compression pistons?

/threadjack

Which Rods wont...

A rod is a rod...

yes a fine example of why not boost 5th gear, especially going over 200KM/h.

just dont boost 5th and you should be fine ;) I am still yet to find myself in a real world situation where it is necessary. end of 4th is fast enough for me on the street :)

i know beau sp? at HiBoost can machine a stock set to work after the aftermarket rods and also drops the compression to a more boost friendly 8.5:1 I believe
