People who can't pay for a new one. People who want a more supple ride (which was why the '08 WRX was more soft - mainstream appeal). People who want slightly better fuel economy.

Lots of people.

But the new one and the old one cost the same? And a firmer suspension doesn't mean a back breaking ride if the suspension is tuned properly, the difference in ride comfort can be negligible. As far as fuel economy, I don't know if there are solid figures but who's to say the new car won't get better or comprable gas mileage. All the time, manufacturers increase engine power & MPG also.

You're going to get mauled on a trade in and I don't know how much you'd get for the WRX "neutered edition" on private sale. If you bought one, you'd just better like it I guess.

I still say that buying a car is like anything else, thats the risk you take. Something bigger and better will always come out next and you cant blame the manufacturer for that (dunno)
