hey guys and girls im new here and im really interested in buying a MS3. i want one new and i really dont have the cash right now and i was wondering if Mazda plans on making a 2009 MS3 or if its going to be discontinued like the MS6. i used the search box and couldnt find anthing so any info would be greatly appreciated.

thanks dave

08.5s are getting 09 production window stickers and manuals, no changes though to the car at all. Edmonds released info on the MS3 today.

couldn't find anythin on edmunds. link? thought I like edmunds... the lack of a search field is pretty weak.

hope you're right...

damn..not a limited production anymore =(

07, 08 and now 09.....

Yeah, but who cares? It isn't like this is collector's type car. I don't care if they made them for one year or not, I would never be excited or concerned about a "rare" Mazdaspeed3. I don't see many 1986 Toyota Tercel hatchbacks anymore, but I hardly think anyone is worried about it.

Besides, can you blame Mazda? They have a great thing on their hands here... I would sell more of them too.

We all know that Mazda is redesigning the Mazda 3 for 2010 and it could be released early (like spring 2009 instead of summer 2009). If that is the case then Mazda will end production of the existing 3 and MS3's by December/January.

Regardless, I would bet on the existing 3 and MS3 to be produced until at least December so you've got at least 6 months before supply could start drying up.

As for all these people that think the MS3 is a car that will be highly sought after 10 years from now, you bought the wrong car.

Fact: The MS3 is a $25k economy car with a high output engine.

Every year another car manufacturer introduces a new model to better another and their competitors. The MS3 is the king now and has been for 2 years but it's not going to be the king for 10 years and it won't be a legend like the 959.

Exactly my point... BTW... I never heard of the 959. I guess I will go look it up.

Probably useless question...

I know some people have been getting 2009 models already, but I know in my area, none are due in until late September, and I really am not sure if it would be worth waiting for the 2009 at this point. I was offered a great deal ($24500 out the door) on a 2008 GT CWP and so I think anything I lose in resale as far as '08 vs '09 would be made up in the fact that I got a good deal anyways (plus the $300 increase in MSRP from '08.5 to the '09).

I always wonder if there are undocumented minor changes, but I think in the case of the MS3 there aren't. Any thoughts?

but do you really know that for a fact. look at how crappy the delorean was (and it still is), but they're worth something now. and do you think that most ppl who got their drivers license in the 60's and 70's who were buying all these muscle cars knew they were gonna be valuable today? most of them probably didn't. one of my dad's first cars was a hemi roadrunner, he didn't start missing the car until it got valuable again.

and it's obvious this car isn't a cultural icon like the delorean, or have the raw vintage power of a 70's hemi, but who knows, 30 years from now there may not be a gas engine left, and those of you who have a ms3 as their first cool car will be retiring then and want their childhood car back at whatever cost. that's why those old cars are worth so much now, it's those childhood memories that ppl want back.

Stop. We cannot compare 4 door hatchbacks to 2 door cars (like the DeLorean or Hemi Roadrunner).

So let's take things back a few years to the early and mid 80's. The original Rabbit/Golf GTI and the Shelby GLHS cars were 4 door hatchback economy cars with higher then average output engines for their class. They were the equivalent to the MS3 twenty plus years ago. Twenty plus years later (ie: now) do either of those cars command a premium that is more then what their new price was back then? So let's fast fastforward 20 years to 2028... do you think the 2008 MS3 is going to be worth anything close to $22k? People restore AMC Pacers because they have special memories of them....
