2009 MazdaSpeed3 Cobb AccessPORT

So I guess because I showed up to this party sporting the newest model Cobb doesn't have any go fast goodies for me. ( Pure Jokes) I currently became the second owner of a Cobb AccessPort firmware version:v1.2.6.8-5913 but it seems that it won't mate with my ECU. Error message reads something about Failure to communcate with ecu.

Has any other 2009 owners successfully been able to link the AP with their ECU? Will there be a firmware update receive very soon? Thanks in advance. Damn I love this car (spin)
 
AutoXRacer Thanks for the feedback. I did see on another forum where there was a request out of 2009 MSD Beta testers. So I think I'm on that list. Thanks
 
good to know - i just bought a used AP, hopefully they will release the software sooner rather than later
 
Whats the difference between the ECU's? Seems like the 08.5 is basically the same as the 09 and the Accessport works for those right?

Does the factory just throw in a new code to break for each new year?

I think the problem is that the accessport calls for an 07-08 ms3. I dont think the 08.5's ecu tells the AP that its an 08.5, i think it just tells it that its an 08, so the AP is happy.
Since the 09 ecu will say its an 09, i think that's where the problem lies.
 
hopefully this means the 09s are better than the 07s in other aspects too like the smoking turbos and the engine mount failues... one can hope right? ;-]

Aside from the obvious hope that any manufacturer would want to improve each model year while keeping costs at a minimum, i just dont see the difference between the the 08.5 and 09. If its just a matter of cobb changing a couple lines of code to read my2009 instead of my2008 then fine but come on already. Unless of course there really are significant enough changes to require more in depth engineering on Cobbs end for the 09's.

One can only hope.

so turns out somehow i have a CA car in NJ here so teh latest beta firware won't work on my car... gonna have to wait still
 
well, if you have the latest firmware (as of last night) it'll detect your CA 2009 Ms3 without a hitch

i got a stock map from christian today so i'll play with it tonight =]
 
ok, I have an 09, and there is a member selling his AP. I was going to buy it, but now I'm not sure. Is there just going to be an update for the AP, so I could buy his? Thanks

I am just going off what was said earlier in the thread, but apparently you can just download a new firmware for the 09's. I thought I heard somwhere that Accessport's marry to one car so you can use them with other cars......correct if Im wrong.
