I am planning on getting some rims for my 2009 Mazda5 and I am planning on going with a staggered fitment to the tune of either 18x8 in front and 18x9 in the rear or 19x8 front and 19x9 in the rear. Has anyone done this? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanx,

Just make sure you have a high offset on the rear wheels.....I have 19 x 8.5 with a 48mm offset and I could have probably gone wider by at least 1/2 inch...When I was looking they did carry my wheel staggered in 19 x 9 but I kinda chickened out since I was spending my own money ( and had no room for error if I mounted them and wanted to return them) and wasnt really sure ...too late now...they are discontinued in 19's. I think the right wheel would look sick staggered....even if it is FWD. Its the look...really nothing to do with function...lol

I have a 95 Honda Odyssey and I am already going with VIP look, and it is sick and functional! Trust me mini vans or wagons can look good with a staggered fitment, but I cannot find a wheel source that will help me with my 5.

Why? It's FWD.

Appearance preference is the only answer. That set-up will add a lot of unsprung weight (decreasing acceleration) and the increase in tire in the back will increase understeer.

But, that's the cool thing about cars, we can do what we want to make them our own.

Is there any suggestions, because although I have an idea in my mind it definately needs to be functional!
Please help me out!

here is a lil something for you.. 19x9.5 35et and a 225 tire stretches perfectly and fits without rubbing... +38 et on a 9 has a bit a nd i mean a bit of poke..

front on the other hand is where you need a real high offset.. somewhere in the 42+for an 8 range or 38+ range for a 8.5

most of the mazda5 guys here are scared to s*** to run anything besides what they have seen done.. PM me here or over on MOCC forums.. ill gladly help you with your wheel fitment questions
