2008 NAV screen fading fast- half as bright

Searched the forum and I don't see others with my problem.
Just a week ago I noticed my radio/NAV screen was hard to see. At night I can no longer see in reverse unless I hit the daylight dash button, and in the day I can't see the back-up cam well at full brightness.
Radio and NAV screen equally dim so it appears to be the backlighting that has faded. I know the screen is more dim when cold but I never had this problem even during much colder winters.
I bet there is no replacement just for the backlighting...

Check your NAV settings.
It could be in Night mode.
Set it to Auto or Day.

Thanks, but the auto works fine. It goes from super dim to pretty dim. Granted I can still see it in daylight, but this thing used to be bright! It is, as I said, half as bright as it used to be in either day or night setting.

In that case, it is probably the backlite.
This will cost you.
Usually, a total replacement of the unit, estimated to be around $2000 unless you find a refurbished one.
