2008 Mazda5: SUBSTANTIAL CHANGES!!!!

I don't really agree on that. When we ordered our '08 Mazda 5 I wasn't convinced that a red metallic would be nice but my wife really wanted that color so I had to agree on that. But the more pictures i have seen in "our" color the more convinced I get. It really looks good. In sweden where we live there isn't a lot of Mazda 5 sold. The most popular color here is without a doubt silver metallic (an all brands of cars) so our Mazda will really stand out. Anyway, I made some chromed mirrors in Photoshop just to see how it would look together with this color. Together with tinted rear windows and roof rails I think it will be close to a blast! Perhaps I can get my wife to agree on the chrome mirrors now when she gets a red metallic car. ;-)

So long!

As for the navigation thingy, I like the look of that and am curious to see what the console looks like without one as we will probably not fork out the extra $$ for that option.

I think (read as "wild guess", or "a shot in the dark") they are just changing the faceplate to black like the JDM model. It looks sexy IMO.

You can use a faux chrome finish to do this, can't remember where I last saw that. Might as well do the door handles and tailgate garnish while you're at it!

Roof-length chrome rails - oh, just rub it in! (freak) We NA owners don't get the nice rails available everywhere else.

This is the closest I can get. Have never seen platinum silver IRL, only on picture. I also attach a picture of a platinum silver Mazda 5 sport as they look here in sweden (a '07 model though) with roof rails and tinted windows in original.

Top class Blue Swede! I like it.

Excellent job on the PS (bowdown)

+1, very good job indeed. If posted somewhere else I would not have noted the PS work at all.

Mind trying carbon gray as a 2nd practice round? LOL, Just kidding :D.

That color is now as old as the joke (cryhard). I still remember I almost peed my pants when found out that the Mazda5 5MT available was Carbon Gray, especially in light of having the same color as the one used in the Mazda3 Special Edition (SP2.3) launched that year (with Espresso Brown leather seats). Yeah, yeah, not the same thing and no mica of course, but still made me appreciate the color even more...

*Sigh* (wrong)

FYI: Looking on Edmund.com, it appears the difference (MSRP) between an 08 and 07 Touring is about $360; between an 08 and 07 Grand Touring is about $865. Plus the Destination Charge appears to be abour $40 more for 08.

The 5-Speed manual is no longer an option with the Touring package, only available on the Sport model. Another very annoying change is this note at the bottom of the Interior & Exterior Colors Sheet:

*Note: Available exterior colors for Sport 5MT models are Sunlight Silver (22V), Galaxy Gray (32S) and Copper Red (32V).

Now first they drop Phantom Blue, Purple Mica and Green Silver and now they reduce the options even further for us Manual Tramission lovers...argghhh...very frustrating!

..yep...pretty stupid!

Yet another reason I'm happy I got an '07! (cabpatch)

Where did you see this?

Edmunds let's you build an '08 Sport 5m and choose Brilliant Black, Copper Red, Galaxy Grey, Golden Sand, Stormy Blue and Sunlight Silver.

Interesting tidbit I just found.

Edmunds lists the payload for the 5m as 1200-1500lbs and the AT as 1000-1200lbs.

So manual is now only offered on the Sport, and even then in only three exterior colors? Is the new tan interior available? Also, can a Sport be ordered with a sunroof?
