RWD is for southerners and the strickly performance minded. It is a death sentance to moving overall units especialy up here in snow country. Nissan would be screwed if they made that mistake. It would be far better to option an AWD model.
Larger wheels would be nice but I would never get them from the dealer anyways.

Chains ARE legal in MA for about 5 months of the year.mikeyb said:Snowtires and traction control works fine up here in the northeast. Chains are illegal for the reason they chew up the pavement. There is a bunch of RWD cars in my family and all of the ones that are year round cars get snows.

I agree that FWD is easier to drive in snow. FWD is much easier to get going because most of the weight distribution is over the front wheels. The right kind of tires + chains make RWD handle very well on snow though. RWD can be very safe. I own both FWD and RWD, so while I do agree FWD is a little better in loose traction situations RWD CAN still be fairly good.1sty said:Reality and preception are very different.
You can walk into any acura dealer in America and see that in action when they get people into a Tl over a 328 becuase of its "winter handling"
Front wheel drive is simply precieved as far better in the snow to the masses. So much so that a great many people will not even consider rear wheel drive.

$30K OTD for an altima? That's insane, what the hell are they thinking?
mikeyb said:Its in the same price bracket as the Honda Accord Coupe, Toyota Solara, Pontiac G6c, Mitsu Eclipse GT-S.
Donas64 said:yeah I don't see why people are shocked that the Altima coupe is 30K.
I bet the same people would not flinch at a stripper 30K 325 bimmer with no options.
well, the starting prices seem very reasonable...i've never seen a v6 accord or a solara coupe that cheap.mikeyb said:There is no stripper 325i anymore. The 325i has been replaced by the 328i that starts at $32K.
The Altima Coupe 2.5 S starts at $20,490 and the 3.5 SE starts at $24,890.
The Coupe I looked at only had two options on it to bring the price up to $29K.
CVT transmission and the 3.5 SE package $3,200.
