2008 Aero Package

i just installed the aero kit this evening. took my time and spent about three hours doing it. one hour for the rear spoiler (have to drill four holes in the rear hatch) and about two hours for the front (have to remove the front end and drill 17 holes in the bumper). fit and finish are great (as expected) and it does make the car look a little more aggressive. on the inside i also added a custom billet aluminum/carbon fiber shift knob.

I would be interested in the spoiler only too, if it wasn't black plastic it would look better, Scuff plates+rear spoiler.

I think that's my course of action also... do the scuff plates and then possibly the spoiler. If it wasn't a freaking lease I'd be much more inclined to do both. I have to find out what the scuff plate install entails also.

love the font lip spoiler ... not too keen on the rear spoiler as i think it adds too much of a bump to the sleek roofline but nice install & if you like it that's all that counts!

Aero Kit pics before / after on Copper Red

Thanks for the picts! The only images on the web from Mazda don't really do it justice. These give my wife a better understanding of what I am talking about. Would you be so kind to take a full side profile picture? That would really help things.

Thanks

aero kit ...more pics as requested

Here are a couple of pics of the aero kit on copper red. The dealership did the installation for $237 ....lots of drilling so I did not want to tackle this myself, plus I want the dealership to handle any problems should any arise. The kit definitely gives the CX7 a more aggressive look without being over the top. "Thinking" about having the front lip painted the body color however the jury is still out on that. The rear spoiler is the perfect size without being overbearing. This was the first aero kit that the dealership had installed for a CX7 and when I went to pick up my ride after the installation, there were several people already checking it out. All thumbs up. I'm very pleased. I'll try to take some better pics and get them posted ...these pics were just quick shots from my driveway.

So to do the front you have to drill a bunch of holes in the front bumper for mounting? I assume you have to take the front bumper off.

Does it impair getting to some of the screws under the front to take off some of the pieces under the car?

I wonder if the front and rear underguards will look better. I'm not digging the rear aero wing but to each his own.

Ordered the aero kit, along with the splash guards. Now I need to decide if I will have it dealer installed or bring it to my body guy. Anyone have any opinions on this? My body guy will be cheaper, but he probably hasn't done one yet. The dealer may be more expensive, but should alleviate any warranty concerns.

I am thinking I can do the splash guards myself.

Just ordered the rear scuff plate. Will post pics once it comes in and is installed. Dealer quoted me $180 for the plate, $79 for installation. Already have the aero kit installed.

Will be interested to hear about the quality of the underguards, read they are made of chromed plastic. Thought about getting one for the rear as well, but I just can't see them lasting more than one or two winters, not to mention the hastle of keeping them clean. Start a new thread for the underguards when they come in and post some feedback/pics.

I think the front is just wind splitter which to me is just ehh.. maybe I'll just stick with my scuff plates look. I think they look sick on the CX-7

For me the scuff plates look better than the aero package...that rear spoiler is just too much! We already have a nice rear spoiler and the front spliter is black...would be a lot better if it were body colored as well IMO.

How heavy are the underguards? What are they made of? Easy install?
