since last years thread was such a success, id figured id start another one since pitchers and catchers have been reporting this week.

my white sox report tomorrow! w00t!

todays headline:

kerry wood slips, falls, and injures self while stepping out of hot tub.

for those of you that havent heard about it, im dead serious. i couldnt make this stuff up.

I don't think we will ever see the Kerry wood of his rookie year ever again. He is just to injury prone. Carlos is talking about himself in the third person as well, our pitching staff can be very good together or very bad together, I think maybe .500 or so which is a huge improvement over 66-96.

You know you're a Cubs fan when you'll settle for a .500 finish.

Lets be realistic Phil. +/- 81-81 is a huge improvement over 66-96. Don't you think? I'm thinking realisticly while some are thinking in a fantasyworld.

Also I don't want to make this thread into a cubs vs. white sox, but I didn't see the White Sox improving at all over the off season. They absolutely did 0. I can't figure out how you guys improved yourselves after being a third place team. I still see you guys as a third place team in the division. I'm just glad we finally did something this offseason and we did a lot. The pitching staff still looks like s*** so that is why I am throwing a number out in wins. Things happen though in baseball.

More Roids. Baseball is boring otherwise.

Fun Fact: White Sox in the World Series was the least watched ever.

You throw the cubs in there instead of the astros or whoever made it that year you have the most watched ws ever.

...now that's realistic within our lifetimes...good call

Cubs vs anybody including the college all stars: most watched I guarantee. Now would they win that series, who knows.

I was proving a point. Perhaps better ratings it is was a stronger market national league club , dim..

I that how it works? I was making a point that the sox are an inferior club.

I know. As much as I hate them they were a dominant team that year. Shame nobody watched them. I think we should stop with the points though. Nobody is paying attention to them.

Seriously, is that all you non-Sox fans can do? Talk about how the '05 WS wasn't watched everywhere in the country?

Get some new material, Corwin. You're sounding like the rest of the Cubs fans that blanket themself in fake-baseball-hype every season.

Not me. 81 and 81. I stopped with the 'this is the year' s***.

I would like the Cubs to at LEAST finish second in division, if not become a wild card tem. With all the money they've spent, they better produce something.

Honestly what difference does it make whether the Sox WS was watched or not. Sox fans enjoyed it, I don't care what the rest of the world, country, state think. Sox won the World Series.

As for improving the team, they were a 90 win team last year, that's hardly bad. I think they should be able to compete in their division this year. They did last year, just had some slouches from Contreras and Buerhle in the second half of the season and Javier Vasquez got no run support in the last part of the season. I remember him pitching a 1 run game, but of course the Sox scored no runs for him.

I don't mean to add fuel to the fire of Cubs vs Sox or anything.

I'm really looking forward to baseball though, it's going to be great.
